VIDEO: Corinne Bailey Rae – I’d Do It All Again

December 23rd, 2009 written by jeej

This is the official video to the stunning new Corinne Bailey Rae single, I’d Do It All Again. It’s due out for release in early January and acts as the precursor to her new album, The Sea, which will come out on 26th January.

I’d Do It All Again is an extremely powerful track with an almighty depth to it. It’s an astonishing return for Corinne Bailey Rae after the tragic loss of her husband, Jason, in March 2008. To come back and release a track of such quality, and so soon, is truly testament to Corinne as not only an artist, but as a person. The track is a stripped back affair, combining delicate strings with bass and well balanced percussive elements. The lyrics are emotional, raw and undeniably honest – whilst Corrine’s vocals are, as expected, of the highest calibre. A truly spine-tingling song, and an exquisitely mellow video to match. You can also catch a live performance of I’d Do It All Again from Later With Jools Holland on YouTube.

It’s almost as if the early layers of Corinne Bailey Rae have been peeled away to reveal a refreshingly honest and pure artist, perhaps as a direct result of the events of the past couple of years, but ultimately the result is beautiful music. Corinne has won many awards in her short career, including a GRAMMY, but inadvertently the bar has now been raised – and not just for Corinne herself, but for all female vocalists. It most certainly leaves me pining to hear more of her new material, so roll on The Sea towards the end of January.

Stac - Glory

Pure fiyah for you today! Brand new single from UK songstress Stac on the Wah Wah 45s label. Out on Monday (14th December), the track is called Glory and is set to kick-off the excitement for Stac’s album due out early next year. The single, available to purchase through Kudos, includes remixes from; Scrimshire, Pause and King Knut. The original is a beautiful, sultry downtempo number, but what is incredible is how each remix is like a brilliant new track, from an entirely different angle. Check out the Soundcloud streams to see what I mean.

Check out this new video for the debut single, Lost Where I Belong, from Ninja Tune’s Andreya Triana – as brought to you exclusively by Jus Like Music back in September. This track is from the upcoming Andreya Triana album (due out Spring 2010), was co-written by Fink and was produced by Bonobo. The video was directed by Daniel Chester and Dave Prosser, and was produced by Sweetworld – and I think it fits the song wonderfully!

The single is now due out on the 8th February and, as mentioned previously, will include a remix from Flying Lotus. For now, you can listen to the track via the above video and this Soundcloud stream…

Upcoming Live Dates:

  • Dec 10 2009 – Italy (Acoustic Set) – Rome

Ghost presents Remixes from The Edge

One of the UK’s best producers, Ghost, has released an album containing all of his hottest remixes absolutely free via his website! I’ve been a big fan of Ghost since way back, so was no stranger to the quality of his creations that have come out over time on the renowned Breakin Bread label. I’d already heard a few of these remixes too, but a lot were totally new to me and really blew me away.

Tracklisting:

01. Foreign Beggars – No More (Ghost remix)
02. P Money – Everything (Ghost remix)
03. Coldcut – Sound Mirrors (Ghost remix)
04. Bonobo – If You Stayed Over (Ghost remix)
05. Dabrye – Air (Ghost remix)
06. The Heavy – No Time (Ghost remix)
07. Foreign Beggars – No Holes Barred (Ghost remix)
08. AT Jazz – Together (Ghost remix)
09. Kashmere – Poison (Ghost remix)
10. The Heavy – How You like Me Now (Ghost remix)

All ten tracks are stunning remixes of great tracks from artists like; Foreign Beggars, Bonobo and The Heavy, whilst a particular favourite of mine at the moment is the Ghost remix of Everything by New Zealand’s P Money.

Ghost remains one of the most versatile producers in the UK and that would probably go some way to explaining his longevity in the game, but he’s a talented guy with a fantastic ear for a groove and this selection of remixes is the perfect example of just this. He’s your favourite producer’s favourite producer. Plus, this is all totally free of charge, so no excuses, go grab it now!
