Bits & Pieces Wars / NEW J5 TRACKS

Some midweek news for you all to digest, and a couple of mp3s from the new Jurassic 5 LP that have been tickling my fancy of late. As ever, if you have any news or amusing stories to share, don’t be shy, share and share alike!

Jurassic 5 have announced a tour of the UK. The tour is seven dates long, starts in Bristol on 26th September, and concludes in Glasgow on 6th October. Other venues include; Birmingham, Southampton, London, Manchester, and Newcastle. Speaking of J5, their new LP Feedback is out on 24th July, and I can tell you from first-ear experience that it is fantastic. Don’t be fooled by that track Work It Out with Dave Matthews Band, it really is a fantastic album – I’ll probably chuck up a review at the end of the month.

The usually so strict-with-the-net China are in trouble with the music industry – or more specifically Yahoo China are in trouble. Last year Baidu, the most popular search engine in China, was also sued by the music industry. But why? Well, apparently these search engines have provided links to pirated material. Seems the Chinese government have their house in order when it comes to keeping certain information from their people via the net, but seemingly not links to pirated music!

The annual Podcast Awards are now taking votes, so be sure to check them out and get voting here… http://podcastawards.com/ …personally I think I will be voting for Indie Feed Hip-Hop, although KCRW’s Today’s Top Tune, Solid Steel, Stones Throw, and The Beat Oracle are also VERY good – so I might have to mix up my votes for different categories!

You got that Cadence album Creative Commerce yet?! Pfft… come on, get it done. Those kind guys at Domination Records even have a link up on their page to my review. Ahhh, feel the love!

I featured a chap on Sunday by the name of Yamasaki, well he has his six track EP available to buy now at indiestore.com, so if you’re feeling your lounge-hop music, check him out. But wait, it gets better… shortly I’ll be doing a review of Yamasaki’s Deep Six EP and also including a sort of responsive interview to my own review – basically so he can explain the music in whole, it’ll be good, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

The Origami Sounds Collective have some new tracks up on their MySpace page – these include tracks from; Paper Tiger, Daniel Roberts, Lautrec, and Velella Velella. Be sure to check them out here. As ever, the Origami boys have got our backs where experimental electronica, jazz, and hip-hop are concerned.

That’ll do for news and info, not a great deal going on in my portion of the musical sphere, but still pretty hyped by the new J5 LP, more than pleasantly surprised you could say. So I’ll finish up with a couple of cheeky tasters from the album, but seriously, if anyone has issues with these tracks being linked to I’ll take them down straight away…
