NEW: Massive Attack – Demo

This is a bit of a strange one, but there’s a new Massive Attack demo suddenly doing the rounds on the internet. Supposedly sprung up yesterday on the Massive Attack Facebook page, it’s already causing quite a furore. It’s the first new Massive Attack material since 2009′s Heligoland – that’s of course if you don’t count the split 12-inch release with Burial.

This remix of the Fugees‘ track Fu Gee La, by Israeli producer LuqMan, was brought to my attention last week by Wrongg who played it as his last selection on our radio show. LuqMan has stripped the track back and then added his own distinctive heaavy groove, which it has to be said is more addictive than crack.

Our friends at Poejazzi have just informed us of yet another fantastic event they are putting on in London. This time it sees The King’s Will, Tanya Auclair and James Massiah performing at The City Arts & Music Project (EC1Y) on Tuesday 13 December.

This is a bit out there, but I’m genuinely quite excited about the group known as Metamono. As weird/dull/arrogant (delete as appropriate) as this sounds, it’s not too often I get sent stuff I’ve totally not heard of AND like it. Have a look at this bizarrely haunting animated mash-up video for the understated, yet ridiculously emotive track, Replica, by Oneohtrix Point Never. The video, by Daniel Lopatin (aka Oneohtrix Point Never) himself, uses footage from an old Russian animation called Nu, pogodi!

South African-born, Australia-based, Jonti has created one of the most interesting albums of the year with his release Twirligig – which is out this month on Stones Throw. So, above is a fan-made video for the track Frightened Mice, which Stones Throw have decided to champion. I don’t know what’s more endearing; the song or the video. Either way, I was hypnotised!
