As mentioned in our recent review of the incredible Tropics EP by Teebs & Jackhigh, there are to be a very limited number of hand-painted copies of the record available from Svetlana Industries. There are only 23 of these special editions available and Teebs has hand-painted each one himself. Check out the Svetlana Industries site to see them. Painted on thrift store album covers, each one is obviously unique – but, if you want to get your hands on one, then you’ll have … [read more]

Out now on Ninja Tune is the fourth studio album from Bonobo, entitled Black Sands. It is Bonobo‘s first full length release since 2006′s widely praised Days To Come and features recent Ninja Tune signing Andreya Triana on lead vocals for a few tracks on what is largely an instrumental release.
At just under an hour in length, as the Black Sands flow, the hourglass resonates with the frequencies of both computerised and organic sounds which journey between triumphant uplifting expressions and … [read more]

New music blog, Dirty Apples, have burst onto the scene with this incredible mix they’ve uploaded to Mixcloud. It’s the most beautiful selection of downtempo tracks I have heard for absolutely ages. Including artists such as Nina Simone, Lamb, Erykah Badu, Dntel and Medeski, Martin & Wood, it spans just shy of an hour long and dances seamlessly from track to track. They’ve set the bar very high with their first mix and I cant wait to hear more from them!

Out now on his own Don’t Bizzniz imprint, UK hip-hop emcee Mystro presents the F.D.T. EP. I’ve been following Mystro for nearly ten years now and he’s always been one of the freshest and slickest emcees in the UK. He’s also one of the nicest and most hilarious guys you’ll find in the scene – which reminds me, you have to check out his “Mystro Investigates” video series on the Spine TV site, very entertaining stuff!
The F.D.T. EP spans ten tracks and … [read more]

This is a little teaser promo video for Alex B‘s imminent debut LP, Moments, coming out 6th April on Elm and Oak. To suggest that this short clip is slick would be a gross understatement! It was directed by Chad Simcox and co-directed by Randal Kirk II – they’ve done a wicked job of it, as is clearly evident.
The other week I shared a taster from Alex B‘s album via the track You And I Both Know that was featured … [read more]
