I’ll keep this brief, because we’re not really about the hard-sell or anything, but basically the good guys at Dragontape have created a Jus Like Music app for the iPhone and iPad. It gives you access to exclusive video mixtapes curated by us here at Jus Like Music. The app is like 69p/99c and it will probably enrich your life or something. You can get it on the app store right now.
We will regularly update the app with new mixtapes and will endeavour … [read more]
Following on from the other week’s Portico Quartet remix by YULT, we now have a new video for the track Ruins, which is lifted from the forthcoming self-titled Portico Quartet album. You can also download the track for FREE by going to the website of Real World Records, their record label.
The new album is their third full release and will drop in January 2012. It’s the first release to feature new band member, Keir Vine, and the guys have now embarked … [read more]
The masked man of independent hip-hop, MF DOOM, was at Red Bull Music Academy last week in Madrid to give a lecture. We covered Red Bull Music Academy when it was in London last year and, as always, it featured a plethora of vastly interesting topics and characters; Moodymann was a particular highlight! Anyway, as part of the first semester at this year’s Academy, MF DOOM came to talk to the participants. He raises some particularly intruiging points regards the use of personas … [read more]
Our friends at Poejazzi have just informed us of yet another fantastic event they are putting on in London. This time it sees The King’s Will, Tanya Auclair and James Massiah performing at The City Arts & Music Project (EC1Y) on Tuesday 13 December.
The King’s Will is a relatively new act, consisting of Musa Okwonga and Giles Hayter, who brilliantly combine ethereal electronica with astute and deep lyricism. Tanya Auclair is no stranger to Jus Like Music – having been featured on here … [read more]
More of a visualisation than a straight up music video, but check out this little beauty Machinedrum created for his own track, Where Did We Go Wrong?, from the fantastic Room(s) album.
To be honest, I’d use any excuse to talk about Machinedrum‘s latest album. It’s out right now on Planet Mu and it’s absolutely fantastic. Easily one of the albums of 2011. Anyone who has followed his work over the last few years (and they’ll even be some who have followed him … [read more]
This is the double-feature video, produced & directed by The Ports, for the tracks Whatchalookin@ and Kill 4 Fun by J*DaVeY.
The two tracks are lifted from J*DaVeY‘s forthcoming new album, New Designer Drug, which as of yet doesn’t have an actual release date. The duo, comprising of Jack Davey and Brook D’Leau, have been wowing crowds from the neo-soul persuasion through to fans of avantgarde pop for a while now, so I think we’re all very much ready for … [read more]
Juan Medina, aka Jimmy Flamante, is a laptop musician and music producer from Caracas, Venezuela.
Hip Beats Vol. 01 is Jimmy Flamante‘s new EP. It’s a body of work that reunites various styles within the same genre. Hip-hop beats that go from post-dubstep to much more classical techniques, in which there are only samples and drum hits used. Then it finishes as a sort of hybrid between Wu-Tang style beats, basslines and melodies composed with synthesizers, mutant cuts and textures.
We’re very pleased … [read more]
Russia and the UK collide here as friend of Jus Like Music, kidkanevil, remixes Pixelord‘s track Fish Touch. This heavy electronic beats banger has been exquisitely visualised by photographer Dan Medhurst, who has enlisted an array of be-crazed females to go a little ‘radio rental’ in front of the lens.
The track is from Pixelord‘s Fish Touch EP out now on Error Broadcast, and available to purchase from Boomkat. The EP also includes remixes from Om Unit and heRobust. … [read more]
This is a bit out there, but I’m genuinely quite excited about the group known as Metamono. As weird/dull/arrogant (delete as appropriate) as this sounds, it’s not too often I get sent stuff I’ve totally not heard of AND like it. I mean the whole package as well; I’ve never heard of Metamono before now, or their label Ho Hum Records.
Anyway, to business! They describe themselves as being an electronic three-piece who observe and abide by a strict manifesto that includes things … [read more]
