Check out this video for the new Nostalgia 77 single, Sleepwalker, featuring Josa Peit. The video is a sultry black and white affair, focussing mainly on talented Miss Josa Peit as she moves from the confines of a house to the streets.

Sleepwalker is the third single to be lifted from the upcoming new Nostalgia 77 album, The Sleepwalking Society, which drops via Tru Thoughts on 21 November. It’s a fine, moody contemporary jazz track, which once again goes to prove … [read more]

We had Jimmy from Naive Machine in the studio with us to spin a set of sick beats, including some unreleased material from Naive Machine and the Hit and Hope label.

We also had an opportunity to have a chat with Jimmy after he’d finished his set. We talked about Naive Machine, the making of the video for their track Robot Ramification, and … [read more]

Have a look at this bizarrely haunting animated mash-up video for the understated, yet ridiculously emotive track, Replica, by Oneohtrix Point Never. The video, by Daniel Lopatin (aka Oneohtrix Point Never) himself, uses footage from an old Russian animation called Nu, pogodi!

Replica is taken from Oneohtrix Point Never’s new album, of the same name, which is out 8 November on Software/Mexican Summer. For those less familiar with his work, he’s a leading name within the drone and ambient arenas, having previously released … [read more]

Your favourite Swiss synth-lord and beatmaker is back. I am, of course, referring to Dimlite. This is the video created by Crouced Tif / Ehstrawlogy Produkte for the track, Fridge Note, taken from Dimlite‘s upcoming Grimm Reality album – out through Stones Throw imprint Now-Again Records on 22 November.

The video appears to depict a man losing his mind in his own kitchen. The music, however, starts off within a heavy, electronic guise, enveloped by warped vocals and a feeling of … [read more]

Although I don’t advocate the cooking of records, or even shoes, if this video (directed by Akira Thompson) acts as a reminder to tell people to check out the fantastic Cookin’ Gumbo album by Captain Planet, then I officially approve.

Out now on Bastard Jazz Recordings, Cookin’ Gumbo blends funk, afrobeat and jazz, but in multiple tempos and directions. Some of it is straight up dancefloor, whilst other tracks are more tempered and deep. I definitely recommend checking it out as it’s extremely … [read more]

South African-born, Australia-based, Jonti has created one of the most interesting albums of the year with his release Twirligig – which is out this month on Stones Throw. So, above is a fan-made video for the track Frightened Mice, which Stones Throw have decided to champion. I don’t know what’s more endearing; the song or the video. Either way, I was hypnotised!

Jonti‘s sound is psychedelic, melodic and damn right delightful. For some, I’m sure his album will be considered a ‘grower’… [read more]

About nine months ago a mysterious remix of an old Marvin Gaye track appeared on Soundcloud by a guy no-one seemed to have heard of before.
