“The number of basic origami folds is small but they can be combined to make infinitely intricate forms.”… Tanya Auclair’s excitement for music made from ‘minimal means’ continues to give rise to ever more playful and striking explorations in experimental pop. Her follow-up to debut EP Thrum is Origami – stories about making, breaking and fluke.
This time the looper-uke-guitar-keys toting singer-songwriter is joined by the talents of Joe Allen (drums), Arista Hawkes (double-bass) and Jack Allett (Production).
Citing influences as wide-ranging as Bongo Joe Coleman, Juana Molina, The Staple Singers, Laurie Anderson, Matthew Herbert and E.S.G, her open instinctive approach shows in the territory she covers in a beguiling mix of playful DIY drums, layers of voice, intricate melodies and touches of electronica.
