If you missed the show, you can catch the show for the next seven days via the “listen again” feature on the BBC site. Obviously Gilles needs no introduction, so it’s easy to see why this is great news for both Jus Like Music Records and of course BUG. So, a big thanks to Gilles Peterson … [read more]

Tobrock & Fella Vaughn have combined to create ROCKAFELLA, a 25-track mash-up masterpiece which is FREE to download via Bandcamp. Combining elements of jigged-out hip-hop, funk, electro, boogie and other instrumental treats and edits, Tobrock and Fella Vaughn present a head-nodding killer of a mixtape. Following on from Spine TV‘s Eglo Records documentary the other day, they have now premiered the video for Fatima‘s track Soul Glo. The track was produced by Funkineven and is taken from Fatima‘s recent Mind Travelin EP. The video is pretty fresh! Got that whole future retro vibe going on, starting off with a cheesy looking infomercial selling a hair product. It’s a slick video by all accounts, and obviously the track is heavy – like it has an Outkast meets … [read more]

It is with great sadness that I have to report the untimely passing of legendary Japanese hip-hop producer Nujabes. At the young age of 36 years old, Jun Seba (AKA Nujabes) was taken from us after a tragic traffic accident in Japan on 26th February this year. An extremely private individual, rarely giving interviews, it’s almost no surprise that this awful news has only just now surfaced. A private funeral was held by his family in Shimeyaka.
I can honestly say that there … [read more]
Check out this wicked mini-documentary about Eglo Records over at Spine TV. The video features label-head Alex Nut, producer Funkineven and soulful singer Fatima. A lot of people should be familiar with Eglo Records by now, and probably because of the ultra-popular Floating Points vinyl releases, but the East London funky music cartel are looking to only get stronger and stronger. This entertaining little documentary talks a bit about the roots of the label and exactly who is involved. Well worth a … [read more]
