It&#039;s as if her tragic and widowed status suddenly makes her more &#039;edgy&#039;. All that&#039;s happened is that her former critics are now listening to her with the  open mind they didn&#039;t have before.  For those of us who appreciated her first album she&#039;s always had a good deal of substance, raw emotion and heart-on-sleeve lyrics. Fair enough recent events might add another layer to her artistry but she was never bubblegum in the first place.  She just wasn&#039;t courting the media and self-destructive like Rock-and-roll Amy.
